Sea Gem added her name to the growing list of winning graduates from the 2010 Magic Millions HIT Sale at Gosford on Friday.
Sea Gem (2f Royal Academy –Our Chantilly by Snippets) was purchased by trainer Marc Conners for just $14,000 from the Robyn Wise draft at the Gold Coast last October.
Remarkably, the Royal Academy filly had initially gone through the Gold Coast sale ring for just $5,000 when offered by Goodwood Farm at the 2010 Magic Millions yearling sale.
Sea Gem worked her way to the front from an outside gate and, despite veering to the left, still won from Ablett’s Scream and Barbur. The margin would have been several lengths if she steered a correct course in the straight.
She is the first winner out of a mare from the extended family of Group 1 winners Dream Ticket, Deep Impact and Nashwan.
Entries are now being taken for the 2011 Magic Millions National HIT Sale to be held at the Gold Coast on October 19 and 20.
