Another millionaire by More Than Ready

More Than Ready was represented by his third $1 million sale-ring graduate this year on Thursday.

The Vinery champion’s filly from Miss Mary Apples (Clever Trick) made $1 million during the third session of the Ocala 2yo Sale in Florida.  She topped the overall leader-board until a Tiznow colt sold for a record $2.45 million.

Consigned by Kentucky-based Wavertree Stables (as agent), the filly was purchased by Alessandro Marconi, on behalf of Al Aasfa Racing.  She starred at a breeze-up session last week (pictured) clocking the fastest 200m in a sizzling 9.60s.

“We couldn’t see another horse after watching her,” Marconi said.  “She is quality all over and was my top selection in the sale.”

The More Than Ready filly will be sent to Europe to race.  Her dam Miss Mary Apples was runner-up in the 2002 Group 2 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga and she has already foaled stakes winners Miss Red Delicious and Dr Diamonds Prize.

Bred by Katie Rich Farms, the filly was pin-hooked for $390,000 at last year’s Keeneland September yearling sale.  “She’s one of the best horses we had on the farm,” Wavertree’s Ciaran Dunne said.  “She trained like a superstar and it’s good for her to be received like that by the buyers.”

More Than Ready started 2017 with a stunning $1.30 million yearling at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January.  He’s a brother to Sebring and will be trained by Gai Waterhouse.

The Vinery champion backed up with a $1.10 million 2yo at the Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale in March.  He’s in training with Chad Brown and was another successful pin-hook having sold for $235,000 as a yearling in Kentucky last year.

More than Ready stands at Vinery for a $66,000 (inc gst) service fee and he has more southern-bred black-type prospects this weekend starting with Kunming (G3 Gunsynd Classic) and Zolani & Zunbaqa (LR Nitschke Stakes) on Saturday.  His G1 Queensland Derby winner Eagle Way has accepted for the G3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup (2400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.
