Armidale Stud stallion Ladoni (GB) has been put down after his health took a sudden downturn last week. He was 21.
Ladoni (Danehill) was a Group 3 winner in Germany and was imported to Tasmania in 1997. He has sired 182 individual winners including the stakes winners Lady Lynette, Birle’s Gamble, Gehenna, Midnight Escapade, Our Dashing Dane and Petite Oiseau.
Lady Lynette was his best horse by far winning up to Group 2 level on the mainland in the VRC Blazer Stakes at Flemington. She banked over a $1.13 million and began her broodmare career with a Medaglia D’Oro colt in August.
Armidale Stud lost its champion sire Savoire Vivre (Sadler’s Wells) to advanced laminitis in October 2012.
