Trainer Bob Baffert will prepare the Flatter colt that made $925,000 to top Day 2 of the Ocala March 2YO Sale in Florida on Wednesday. “I’m so excited,” said Baffert. “He’s a really awesome horse.”
The muscular colt breezed the fastest 400m prior to the sale coming home in 20.60s. He is from the unraced Quiet American mare Silence Please and is a half-brother to 2010 Aqueduct stakes winner Sky Music (Sky Mesa).
“He’s got the pedigree to go long, he’s fast, and he looks very, very sound,” Baffert said. “He just jumps out at you and looks like a big-time horse.
Baffert and his client Kaleem Shah fought off stiff competition that included Kentucky bloodstock agent John Moynihan, who is a key advisor to Jess Jackson. The colt was originally sold for $90,000 at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton New York-bred preferred yearling sale.
Flatter (A.P. Indy – Praise by Mr. Prospector) stands at Claiborne Farm and is an older brother to Vinery’s 2010 Champion freshman sire Congrats.
Day 2 of the Ocala March 2YO Sale saw 121 lots gross $14.98 million at an average of $123,826. That was a significant increase on Day 1 when 244 lots averaged $104,766.
