Darley stallion Bernardini has been given a tremendous vote of approval by being named as covering sire for champion mare Zenyatta in 2011.
Zenyatta (Street Cry) is currently boarding at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky and the stud’s resident champion A.P. Indy was favoured to cover Zenyatta. However, her owners Jerry and Ann Moss decided to send their Horse of the Year to his Group 1 winning son.
Bernardini was the leading North American freshman sire by number of Group winners and stakes winners in 2010. He shuttles to Darley Australia and has covered over 420 mares in the last three southern seasons. His first-crop yearlings sold up to $300,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions.
