Queensland sires lead Australian first-season premiership

All Bar One joined fellow Queenslander Red Dazzler on top of the Australian first-season sires’ premiership at Townsville on Tuesday.  Both stallions also have the most winners with three each.

The Oaklands Stud freshman sired his third winner when Friction scored by a length in the Racing Queensland Hcp (1000m) at Cluden Park.  She came with a strong burst in the straight to win by over a length from Craiglea Mustang (Frisco View) and Craiglea Mac (Longhorn).

Friction is trained by Trevor Rowe in Cairns and joins stakes winner I’m the One (Eagle Farm) and Peterhof (Toowoomba) on the All Bar One winner list.  He has sired another five placegetters less than four months into the two year-olds season.

All Bar One was the first freshman to register a stakes winner in Australia this season when I’m the One captured the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes in December.

Friction (2f All Bar One – Attacks by Arena) is from a mare who retired a maiden after five starts.  She has a yearling colt by All Bar One and a weanling colt by fellow Oaklands Stud resident Break the Vault.

All Bar One stands at Oaklands for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee and hails from the Hennessy branch of the Storm Cat sireline.  So does Darley shuttler Henny Hughes who has made a tremendous start to his stud career in North America.
