Zensational has been retired after finishing fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita last Saturday. He will stand at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington and his first book will include the dam of Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile.
Zensational (Unbridled’s Song) won 5 of his 8 starts after being purchased by Zayat Stables for $700,000 at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Calder 2yo Sale. He won four win a row leading into the BC Sprint including the Triple Bend Handicap (G1), Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) and Pat O’Brien Stakes (G1).
“He’s one of the three best horses I’ve ever trained,” Bob Baffert said. “He’s as fast, as powerful and as good-looking as any horse you will ever see.”
