Storm Cat sire Consolidator has been transferred from Darley’s Kentucky base to stand at Journeyman Stud in Florida for 2010.
He is the second Storm Cat stallion to stop shuttling to Australia/NZ this year. Yesterday Coolmore announced One Cool Cat, who had shuttled to Cambridge Stud, had been sold to South Korea.
Consolidator shuttled to Australia in 2006 and 2008. His first southern yearlings didn’t make an impact at the 2009 majors – his top-priced yearling was a $33,000 colt from Heytesbury Stud at the Perth Magic Millions.
The only starter from his first crop to date has been Queanbeyan based gelding Super Circle who didn’t fire in the Listed NSW Breeders’ Plate at Randwick last month.
Consolidator is going extra well with his initial northern hemisphere crop siring 16 individual winners so far this year. They include the stakes performers Queen Imidala (USA) and Absolute Music (France).
Consolidator was a G1 winner of the Futurity Stakes at Keeneland and G2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita. In the latter, he defeated subsequent Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo. His dam Good Example (Crystal Glitters) was a G3 winner in France and she has also foaled the stakes winner Mycatcandance.
