Busy win buoys Big Brown

Big Brown has joined Street Boss and Henrythenavigator in second place on the North American first-season winners’ premiership.

The Vinery freshman has now sired 16 individual juvenile winners from 34 starters this year and he has a much better strike-rate than Street Boss (51 starters) and Henrythenavigator (40 starters).

Majestic Warrior (A P Indy) leads the title race with 23 winners from 66 starters.  He stands at Ashford Stud and was a G1 winner of the 2007 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga before retiring to stud.

Get Busy Livin increased the Big Brown winner-count to 16 with a four length victory over 1200m at Zia Downs in New Mexico.  After settling midfield of the 10 runners, he collared front-runner Talking Tables and drew off from the furlong.

Get Busy Livin (2c Big Brown – Look Out Lorie by Orientate) is owned by Five State Stables after changing hands for $45,000 at the 2012 Ocala April 2YO Sale.  He is bred to get over ground being out of a half-sister to G2 Hawthorne Gold Cup winner Redding Colliery (Mineshaft).

Big Brown won the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes before shuttling to Vinery.  There are 25 of his first southern yearlings going under the hammer at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
