Cakewalk for Pear Tart

Pear Tart lived up to a sizzling track gallop to seize a valuable G2 victory in the Queensland Guineas (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Dehere filly has always been held in high regard by connections and couldn’t have been more impressive at her first run in black-type company.

Pear Tart (3f Dehere – Tangerine Dream by Sadler’s Wells) is raced by Patinack Farm after changing hands for $45,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  “She’s a very promising filly and worked brilliantly during the week,” trainer John Thompson said.  “She’s pretty much a push button horse and she gets to the line really well – it was a big effort.”

Pear Tart was bred and sold by Makybe and is turning into a great value buy.  She has already earned almost $260,000 from just a handful of starts.

Dehere was sold to stand in Turkey two years ago and he has now sired 73 stakes winners.  The Eagle Farm winner’s dam Tangerine Dream is a full sister to French stakes winner Sensible and her extended family includes Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago.
