Champion jockeys Mick Dittman and Ron Quinton were long-time rivals but they’ve been in cahoots breeding winners instead of riding them since retiring from the saddle.
They bred a very capable galloper named Sudden Time who won again in South Africa on Monday. The gelding scored at Port Elizabeth’s Fairview circuit yesterday to boost his record to 7 wins and over R330,000 in prizemoney.
Sudden Time (6g Strategic – Timeless Winds by Mister C.) was a $165,000 buy out of the 2005 Gold Coast Magic Millions. Quinton trained his dam to win feature races at Warwick Farm, Scone and Doomben for owner-breeder Millie Fox.
At stud, Timeless Winds has foaled 8 winners including Dance The Waves (Hennessy), a G3 winner in Sydney (AJC Shorts Hcp) and Melbourne (MRC Rubiton St). Her Redoute’s Choice colt sold for $400,000 at the 2009 Inglis Easter yearling sale.
Dittman also bred the Zeditave mare Zeparty who is the dam of promising three year-old Exclusive Choice. The Redoute’s Choice gelding was a first-up winner at Mornington on November 27 for Pinecliff Racing trainer Rod Douglas.
