Vern Rayner has syndicated numerous winners over the years with Group performers Rose Archway and Skalato the best advertisements for his business.

Rayner’s Classic Syndications added another city winner to the tally at Sandown yesterday when pint-sized galloper Kudeta scored at Sandown.  He is a couple of grades below black-type level but has plenty in common with Rose Archway.

Kudeta (5g Snowland – Cyanic by Puissance) showed a ton of ticker to claim his first race in town after paying his dues with wins at Yarra Glen, Ballarat, Cranbourne (2), Moe, Mornington and Seymour.

“He’s a tiny little bugger,” winning trainer Heath Conners said at Sandown.  “But he’s all heart.”

Kudeta was a $15,000 buy from the Middlebrook Valley draft 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and connections have already banked over $105,000 since he won his maiden in January 2008.

Pocket dynamo Rose Archway (Archway) was an even bigger bargain as a yearling.  She cost Rayner just $12,000 out of the Roselands Stud consignment at the 1999 Inglis Melbourne Autumn Sale.

Trained by Clarrie and Heath Connors, Rose Archway was only the size of a pit pony but, back in 2001, she went from a Sale maiden to the Group 1 AJC Oaks in the space of three months!

Rose Archway has been a goldmine since retiring to stud.  Her Exceed And Excel filly (Ainwick) sold for $625,000 at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale and her Anabaa colt (Widden Valley) made $900,000 a year later at Newmarket sale-ring.

Widden Stud, who sold both yearlings as agent, stood Kudeta’s sire Snowland but he only lasted one season at the historic nursery after experiencing fertility problems.

Snowland was a G1 winner of The Galaxy at Randwick for Gooree Park owner Eduardo Cojuangco and, from limited runners, is the sire of G1 Queensland Winter Stakes winner Absolut Glam.

The Australian Stud Book lists Gooree Park for enquiries regarding Snowland’s stud fee in 2009.
