Wattle Brae Stud sire Court Command made his mark at the 2011 Magic Millions with one of his first-crop colt making $170,000 on Day 2 at the Gold Coast.
Offered as Lot 281 on behalf of Evergreen Stud Farm, the bay colt from Lady Jakeo was purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He was part of the HKJC buys that also included youngsters by Fastnet Rock, Danehill Dancer, Flying Spur, More Than Ready and Encosta de Lago.
Lady Jakeo was one of the finest racemares of her time, winning both the MVRC Australia Stakes and VATC Blue Diamond Stakes at Group 1 level. By Last Tycoon, she has since been responsible for no fewer than eight individual winners, including the international Group winners Able Choice and Red Arrow.
The Court Command colt’s price represented an outstanding return on the stallion’s initial service fee of $8,800. Court Command finished Sessions 1-4 of the 2011 Magic Millions with an average of $86,000 with three sold.
Day 1 of the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale also witnessed a half-brother to Court Command go under the hammer. The son of Fastnet Rock was secured by leading Victorian trainer Mick Price at a cost of $160,000.
