Zabeel reaffirmed his title as ‘King of the Cox Plate’ on Saturday and he has a hefty presence at NZ Bloodstock’s upcoming Ready to Run 2YO Sale on November 20 & 21.
In 2010, Zabeel was honoured with the Kingston Town Greatness Award in recognition of his dominance as the Cox Plate’s most influential sire in its 88 year history.
The Cambridge Stud legend is now adding a new chapter to his success, being the damsire of this year’s winner Ocean Park (NZ). He has four entries in NZB’s Ready to Run Sale with a further 14 horses in the catalogue from his daughters.
Zabeel is the sire of 42 individual Group 1 winners and his daughters are proving a revelation at stud, adding to their stallion’s endless success producing 101 stakes winners to date – 21 at Group 1 level – a total that seems to grow with every weekend of racing.
Zabeel’s potency as a broodmare sire was never more evident than at Moonee Valley. As well as claiming the Cox Plate, he is also the damsire of G2 Crystal Mile winner Silent Achiever (NZ). Another of his daughters foaled It’s a Dundeel (NZ) who is favourite for this Saturday’s G1 VRC Derby.
Zabeel has 14 lots catalogued for the NZB Ready To Run Sale including:

Zabeel was the Champion Broodmare sire in Australia and New Zealand last season and he already holds a commanding early lead in the Australian Broodmare Sires’ Premiership with earnings in excess of $5.70 million.
