Musket colt makes $100,000 at Magic Millions HIT Sale

Yarradale Stud sire Musket was represented by the first lot to make six-figures at the Magic Millions HIT Sale on Wednesday morning.

The Musket – Akarana colt was catalogued as Lot 12 and made $100,000 to the bid of Singapore trainer Steven Burridge. He was consigned by leading HIT Sale vendor Bob Wood after an 11.09s breeze-up at the Gold Coast last month.

Wood received a profitable mark-up after the Musket colt was pin-hooked for $16,000 from Swettenham Stud at the Adelaide Magic Millions. “He’s a late November foal and there’s plenty of growth left in him,” Wood said. “He’s a lovely mover and should do really well up in Singapore.

“Obviously, being a younger half-brother to last year’s G1 Raffles Cup winner Always Certain helped,” Wood added. “But he’s a real nice type in his own right.”

Musket (Redoute’s Choice) is a three-quarter brother to Makybe Diva and won up to Group 2 level in the 2008 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill. His first-crop have been prominent in trials and jump-outs on both sides of the continent and in New Zealand.

He stands for an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee at Yarradale Stud and, for more information, broodmare owners should call (08) 9574 6490.
