Invincible Warrior heads to Hong Kong

Last-start stakes winner Invincible Warrior topped proceedings on Day 2 of the Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale on Tuesday.

Invincible Warrior (Invincible Spirit) was an impressive Kempton maiden winner last month and would have caught the attention of potential buyers when following up in the Listed Doncaster Stakes on Saturday.  The victory earned him a 33/1 quote for the 2013 English 2000 Guineas.

A homebred for Car Colston Hall Stud, he was knocked down to SackvilleDonald’s Alastair Donald for 370,000 guineas.  “He’s been bought for Hong Kong and goes into training with John Moore,” reported Donald.  “”He will go into the next quarantine and will ship in December but he will probably not run until May.”

The Richard Hannon-trained Jacob Cats was next best at 240,000 guineas.  He looked a progressive sort when winning at Newmarket last month and it was no surprise that there was plenty of interest in the three-year-old son of Dutch Art.

Agent David Redvers saw off several interested parties before securing the colt on behalf of Sheikh Fahad.  “He will have a break at the National Stud and then we will make some plans,” Redvers said.  “He could possibly go to Dubai and race for their good prize-money.

David Hayes led the Australian contingent with 200,000 guineas for Motivado (Motivator).  The four-year-old was part of the consignment from Sir Mark Prescott’s Heath House Stables and was fourth home in both the Cesarewitch and the Ebor this summer.

“He’s a lovely horse,” agent Charlie Egerton said.  “It’s been difficult to buy this week.  Hopefully, Motivado will make up into a Cup horse out there.”

Trade continued in robust fashion on Tuesday with 248 lots sold for 6.73 million guineas.  The average rose 8% to 27,156 guineas and the median was also up 8% to 14,000 guineas.

The Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale continues on Wednesday.
