Consistent galloper Crabs gets his chance to break through for an overdue win tonight at Moonee Valley.
Thwarted by bad gates at his past four starts, Crabs should get all the favours from the inside alley in the Tatts Group Handicap (Race 7 at 9.45pm AEDT). His record at the track and trip is outstanding and he has had the benefit of racing under lights.
Crabs (6g Danasinga-Lady Chanele by Citidancer) is a stable favourite of trainer Chris Hyland because he funded Hyland’s recent trip to America.
Hyland purchased Crabs for $2,600 at the 2007 Inglis Thoroughbred Sale and the gelding has now banked close to $90,000 from five wins and seven placings.
Crabs is one of five winners from Lady Chanele including Listed winner Ombre Rose (O’Reilly). Their dam is a Listed winning half sister to recent G2 Moonee Valley Cup winner The Sportsman (Killimanjaro).
