Crowning achievement for Snitzel

Triple Crown Syndications owes much of its ongoing success to Arrowfield Stud sire Snitzel.

Triple Crown owners Chris and Michael Ward got in on the ground floor with Snitzel at the 2010 Melbourne Premier Sale when they bought Hot Snitzel for $60,000 from Bellerive Stud.

Trained by Snitzel specialist Gerald Ryan, he has won five races including the G2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and G2 ATC Royal Sovereign Stakes while banking over $635,000.

The Wards went back to the 2011 yearling sales and picked out a trio of Snitzels to join Ryan at Rosehill.

Flying Snitzel was the first to open this year’s account with a G3 victory at Rosehill in April.  Centrepet won her maiden at Gosford last week and Brilliant Snitzel made it three from three back at the Central Coast on Thursday.

Brilliant Snitzel (2f Snitzel – Heart Of Diamonds by New Regent) kicked clear in the straight and responded when challenged to win the Paramount Function Centre Maiden (1000m) by a short neck.  “She was always going to hold on but baulked at the winning post,” winning jockey Peter Robl said.  “She’s a speedy filly and there’s some improvement in her.”

Brilliant Snitzel was an $80,000 purchase out of Bellerive’s draft at the 2011 Melbourne Premier.

The Snitzel roadshow returns to Eagle Farm this Saturday with his brilliant colt Sizzling on course to claim a Group 1 first for his sire in the T J Smith Stakes.  He is going for a fourth stakes win in a row after victories in the LR Ken Russell Classic, G2 Champagne Stakes and G2 Queensland Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Ryan will saddle up Dances On Stars who is a more than capable second-stringer for Snitzel in the T J Smith and he will also send out Centrepet in the Listed Lancaster Stakes.

Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) will stand for a $33,000 (inc gst) fee at Arrowfield this year.
