Last start Churchill Downs winner Flashy Gray topped Day 8 of the Keeneland November Sale when changing hands for $775,000.
Although catalogued deep into the 11 day sale, Flashy Gray is among the Top 15 highest-priced horses of the Lexington auction to date.
Flashy Gray (2f Flashy Bull – Pleasure Cat by Cat’s Career) was part of the Dolphus C. Morrison dispersal and was purchased by West Point Thoroughbreds. She had created a big impression last Thursday when winning her maiden by 10 lengths.
“It definitely caught our eye when she won by a pole last week,” West Point’s director Erin Finley said on Tuesday. “We thought about it over the weekend and came out to see her. She will be trained by Bill Mott and will be pointed to the G2 Golden Rod Stakes.
“We knew there would be some people on her since she ran so impressively. She’s a big, beautiful filly and acted like a pro this week.”
West Point raced Flashy Bull to a G1 victory in the 2007 Stephen Foster Hcp. He is a son of Holy Bull and stands at Airdrie Stud for a $10,000 fee.
Keeneland reported 279 horses sold for $7.01 million on Tuesday and the average price rose 35% to $25,151. The sale continues through to Friday.
