Defiant Dame will be set for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January after she demoralised her rivals in the Listed AJC Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday. The More Than Ready filly scored by more than three lengths in record time of 57.41s.
Bred by well known bloodstock agent Anton Koolman, Defiant Dame was purchased by senior part owner Les Samba for $270,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale through the draft of Lyndhurst Stud.
“She’s a lovely filly and is very smart,” Samba said. “There was a bit of quality about her at the sale. She will go to the Magic Millions now.”
Defiant Dame (2f More Than Ready – Marcovette by St Covet) is by Vinery’s champion juvenile sire and her dam Marcovette was a stakes performer in Sydney. The Gimcrack winner is a younger half-sister to the Flying Spur stakes performer Sea Spur.
Lyndhurst Stud is preparing a Hidden Dragon half sister to Defiant Dame for the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.
