Bob Peters has won just about every feature race on the West Australian calendar but a G3 Champion Fillies Stakes had eluded the leading owner-breeder until Dreamaway was successful at Ascot on Saturday.

In what was a dream result for Peters and his wife Sandra, Dreamaway finished with a strong sprint to defeat Moonlight Bay (Catbird) who carried the couple’s second set of colours.

Dreamaway (3f More Than Ready – Legal Consent by Danehill) had won her maiden at Pinjarra in December and she put the writing on the wall at her previous start when runner-up to Miss Vinnoire at Ascot.

“The Champion Fillies has eluded us but we made amends with the quinella this year,” Peters said.  “Dreamaway has always displayed ability but has had a few problems along the way.  She has a nice, long stride and is from a strong staying family.”

Champion Vinery shuttler More Than Ready sired his latest feature winner from Legal Consent, a half-sister to Miss Margaret (Marscay) who was a Group 1 winner for Peters in the VRC Chrysler Stakes and South Australian Oaks.

Legal Consent’s first foal New Spice (Old Spice) was a Listed winner of the Melvista Stakes, Northerly Stakes and J C Roberts Stakes at Ascot and he also won the City of Dandenong Cup at Sandown.

Legal Consent has a yearling filly by More Than Ready that sold for $410,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She delivered a Street Cry filly in November and was bred back to Medaglia D’Oro.
