Agent Anthony Stroud secured four-year-old Fallen Idol for a session-topping 250,000 guineas during Day 2 of the Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale on Tuesday.
Stroud bought Fallen Idol (Pivotal) for an unnamed client after seeing off New Zealand agent Guy Mulcaster. The colt will be set for the Dubai carnival. Formerly owned by Philippa Cooper’s Normandie Stud, the Listed winner is out of a half-sister to G1 Lockinge Stakes winner Fly To The Stars.
The Andrew Tinkler owned Well Sharp equalled the top-price when he was purchased by National Hunt trainer Jonjo O’Neill for 250,000 guineas. Well Sharp (Selkirk) was third behind Brown Panther in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Another Tinkler owned galloper Tell Dad was knocked down to agent Sarah Lakin for 240,000 guineas. He is a last-start winner of the G3 Horris Hill Stakes and will head to Hong Kong.
A total of 249 lots were sold for 6.26 million guineas at an average of 25,141 guineas. The Day 2 clearance rate clocked in at 87%.
