Dubawi fillies dominate German Sale

Dubawi topped the Doncaster Premier yearling sale on Wednesday and he dominated the BBAG Sale in Germany on Friday.  The Darley sire had fillies sell for 320,000 euros and 180,000 euros at the Baden-Baden auction.

Leading German trainer Andreas Woehler outbid Sheikh Hamdan’s manager Angus Gold for the 320,000 euros filly who is from Newbury stakes performer Elusive Flash (USA).  “I knew she was going to be expensive,” Woehler said.  “But I didn’t expect to pay that much.

“She is a very good individual with a nice pedigree and I love Dubawi.”  Woehler prepared Dubawi colt Waldpark to win the 2011 Deutsches Derby.

The 180,000 euros Dubawi filly is a half-sister to Deutsches Derby winner Kamsin.  She was among three buys for South African owner Markus Jooste and will race in France with Andre Fabre.

Jooste is a regular at Australian yearling sales and he also paid a combined 210,000 euros for colts by Le Havre and Teofilo.  The duo will be trained by Woehler.

Sheikh Mohammed weighed in with 210,000 euros for a Dansili filly and Werder Bremen soccer manager Klaus Allofs went to 180,000 euros for a New Approach colt.

Hong Kong Jockey Club director Mark Richards outlaid 140,000 euros for a Soldier Hollow – Desabina colt.   And Galileo’s Irish Derby winner Soldier Of Fortune was represented by 125,000 euros filly that was knocked down to agent Peter Doyle.
