Dubawi leads trade on Day 2 at Arqana

Dubawi filly Dealbata led the way on Day 2 of the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale at 380,000 euros on Sunday.

Offered by Melbourne Cup winning trainer Mikel Delzangles on behalf of owner Marquesa de Moratalla, Dealbata was sold to do her future racing in the USA.

“I have purchased her for Martin Schwartz and she will go into training with Chad Brown,” Oceanic Bloodstock’s Michel Zerolo said.  “Her speed and raw ability will make her very interesting in turf races in the States and she’s almost brand new.”

Dealbata (3f Dubawi – Save Me The Waltz by Halling) is a last start winner of the LR Prix Solitude at Saint-Cloud.  She is from the immediate family of recent G3 Baden-Baden winner February Sun (Monsun).

The Aga Khan’s draft followed a stellar first day with more six-figure returns headed by Safiyna (Sinndar).  She was purchased by Marc-Antoine Berghgracht for 140,000 euros.

Safiyna is a half-sister to 2008 G1 Prix d’Ispahan winner Sageburg (Johannesburg).  Their dam Sage et Jolie (Linamix) won the 1999 G2 Prix de Malleret and she is a sister to 1998 G1 Arc de Triomphe winner Sagamix.

Berghracht also bagged the second-highest-priced foal of the day when going to 45,000 euros for a filly from the initial crop of G1 Irish Derby winner Soldier of Fortune related to stakes winner Dansant (Dansili).

Darley champion Dubawi topped the Day 2 foals when his filly from Signorina Cattiva (El Gran Senor) made 125,000 euros to the bid of Crispin de Moubray.  Her dam won at G3 level and was G1 placed in an Oaks d’Italia.

The Arqana Day 2 average rose 5% to 44,011 euros.  Selling continues through to Tuesday.
