Eliza Park stallions catalogued for Great Southern Sale

Clangalang gave studmasters a timely reminder of his ability to sire a good horse when Weholdtheace won the Distinctive Homes Hcp (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

Weholdtheace (4g Clangalang – Doubles Champion by Danzig Connection) had been placed at his previous four trips to town for Murray Bridge trainer Craig Stewart.  The gelding had won at his home track and at Strathalbyn late last year.

Clangalang (Lot 685) and fellow Eliza Park sire Delago Brom (Lot 684) have been catalogued for the Inglis Great Southern Sale at Oaklands Junction on May 20.

Weholdtheace is one of 42 winners for Clangalang who was a G1 winner of the AJC Derby and Epsom Handicap before retiring to Eliza Park in 2004.  His progeny have won 105 races at a 54% strike-rate.

His only black type winner to date has been Gee Gees Blackflash who scored a G3 victory in the 2010 Tasmanian Derby.  Others to have earned six-figures include Lakedro and Reverberates.

Delago Brom has sired 124 winners of 258 races at a 50% strike-rate.  He retired to Eliza Park in 2003 after a career that included a G1 victory in the VRC Australian Guineas at Flemington.

His first crop was headed by G2 Caulfield Autumn Classic winner Brom Brom and Classic Brom who earned black-type at Caulfield and Macau.  His third crop was headed by LR Black Opal Stakes winner Delago Bolt.
