Fath off the mark in Australia

West Australian based Danzig sire Fath has started his southern hemisphere career where he left off in Europe.

Fath (USA) stands at Westbury Park in Coolup and his first starter Keep Fath won the Cup Tickets 2YO (1100m) at Ascot on Saturday.

Keep Fath (2f Fath – Break the Code by Bletchley Park) is trained by Neville Parnham for the MPM Racing Syndicate.  She was catalogued for the 2011 Perth Magic Millions but failed to reach a $15,000 reserve.

The MPM Syndicate raced her dam Break the Code to a Northam maiden victory in 2005 and the Ascot winner is her first named foal.

Fath sired 93 winners of 286 races in Europe while based at Rathasker Stud in Ireland.  They are a precocious breed and have arrived at a 59% strike-rate.

A homebred for Sheikh Hamdan, Fath was trained by Marcus Tregoning to finish a neck second to Primo Valentino in the G1 Middle Park Stakes.  He returned at three to defeat fellow Shadwell Estates galloper Munir in the G3 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood.

Fath hails from a high-class Shadwell family.  He is a brother to Dumaani, a stakes winner in England and Japan, and he is also a half-brother to English 1000 Guineas winner Shadayid.

Their dam Desirable (Lord Gayle) was a G1 winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes and she is a half-sister to the dam of Cape Cross.

Leading Sunspeed breeder James Miorada imported Fath to Australia.  He stands for a $6,600 (inc gst) fee alongside Startac (Theatrical) and Danetime’s half-brother He’s A Decoy (In The Wings) at Westbury Park.
