First stakes winner for Heytesbury Stud shuttler

Former Heytesbury shuttler Pearl Of Love sired his first stakes winner when Collesano won in Naples on Saturday.

Collesano (2c Pearl of Love – Mother’s Hope by Idris) completed a winning hat-trick in the Criterium Partenopeo over 1500m.  He was a 28,000 euros buy for owner Antonino Bosco at the Italian Yearling Sale last September.

Pearl Of Love died after just one southern season in WA.  He stood at Heytesbury in partnership with Mungrup Stud and Namerik Thoroughbreds.

Pearl Of Love (Peintre Celebre) was bred by Swettenham Stud and was G1 winner of the 2003 Gran Criterium in Milan for trainer Mark Johnston.

Pearl Of Love covered 95 mares at Heytesbury in 2006.  The yearlings from that crop were very popular at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions with four of them reaching six figures.  Top the list was the colt from Top Operator mare Sovereign Striker that made $105,000.

The dam is a winning half-sister to the Perth stakes winners Arctic Park (Bletchley Park), Power Plus (Serheed) and full sister to 1991 Burgess Queen Stakes (LR) winner Zamerator (Operator).

Sovereign Striker was unlucky to bump into a smart one in her edition of the Burgess Queen in 1994.  She was beaten a neck by Beaux Art who went on to classic wins in the WA Oaks, WA Derby and AJC St Leger that same season.

The Pearl Of Love – Sovereign Striker colt was purchased by Marshall Nathanson and he has been named Totteridge Green.
