CHOISIR will finish on top of the Australian third season sires’ premiership in all categories this season.
The Coolmore resident has a healthy lead over Hussonet and Street Cry with progeny prizemoney of $4.87 million going into the last few days of the racing year. His chief earner Gold Water accounted for less than 10% of his overall tally. The Gooree Stud filly was a G2 winner of the Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield in February.
In contrast, Weekend Hussler (20%) and Whobegotyou (30%) were major influences in the final figures for Hussonet and Street Cry.
Choisir (Danehill Dancer) blazed a trail for Australian sprinters in England winning the G1 Golden Jubilee and the G2 King’s Stand Stakes. He was also one of the first Australian bred stallions to reverse shuttle and is now a leading third-season sires in UK-Ireland.
His northern hemisphere black-type tally is headed by Stimulation (G2 Newmarket Challenge St), Fat Boy (LR Ripon 2yo Trophy), Meydan Princess (LR Ascot October St) and Choose Your Moment (LR Pontefract Pomfret St).
Meydan Princess (4f Choisir – Miss Assertive by Zafonic) added another stakes win to her record at Del Mar last Sunday, July 26. She was previously trained by Jeremy Noseda in England but is now under the care for James Cassidy in California.
Meydan Princess won the LR Osunitas Hcp (1700m) for new owners Forging Oaks Farm who purchased her for the equivalent of US$350,000 at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale late last year.
