Lonhro stallion Zuberi sired his first winner when Miss Eeyore was successful at Stony Creek on Boxing Day.
Miss Eeyore settled right behind the leader Dragonbite and then took over in the straight to score by two lengths in the Grob Graphic Design Plate (1100m). Her dam Rory’s Light (Rory’s Jester) is from a half-sister to Nothin’ Leica Dane and Duelled.
Cranbourne trainer John Price prepares the mare for the Foot On The Peddle syndicate. Its members include Barry and Di Waterfall who own Zuberi.
“John is training a few more for us by Zuberi,” Barry Waterfall said. “He reckons they all have lovely temperaments and sent his own mare Bawcatme to him when she was still in work earlier this season.”
Another smart race mare to be covered this year is the Melbourne and Brisbane winner Who’s In Charge (NZ). She was trained by Colin Alderson and her daughter Manageress (Magnus) won the Rivette Series Final at Flemington in July and was last seen running second to Lucia Valentina in the G2 Matriarch Stakes during the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Zuberi (Lonhro – Razzia by Scenic) is out of a sister to Group 1 champion Universal Prince and was a $475,000 yearling at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale. He won a barrier trial for John O’Shea but was injured and retired after finishing fourth on debut at Randwick.
Zuberi stands with Steve and Melissa Kerr at Waterfall River Downs in Lang Lang not far from the Western Port foreshore.
