Windsor Park based freshman Falkirk sired his first winner when Miss Marauder scored second-up at Awapuni on Saturday.
Miss Marauder (2f Falkirk – Kate Lorimer by Prince Ferdinand) produced a strong on-pace performance to beat highly rated filly Kallisan. The locally trained winner was fifth on debut in the Listed Wellesley Stakes at Trentham last month.
Trainer Matthew Eales said the Falkrik filly is likely to tackle the $70,000 Eclipse Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie on January 1 prior to her main mission in the $1 million Karaka Million on January 31.
A $30,000 yearling buy, Miss Marauder showed pace reminiscent of her sire who was a brilliant international Group-winning sprinter in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand.
Miss Marauder is the second winner for her dam Kate Lorimer following Duthie Mills (Don Tristram). Second dam Azatla (Azemann) was an unraced sister to Anzaas (Launceston Cup-G3) and a half-sister to Alcantus (Ellerslie Anniversary Cup).
Ainsley Downs Stud will offer an Elusive City half-sister to Miss Marauder (Lot 1608) at the 2010 NZ Bloodstock Festival Sale.
