I Have A Dream doesn’t win out of turn but the stars aligned for the consistent gelding in the TAB Touch Mobi Hcp (2200m) on Saturday.

He has been placed 10 times in 22 starts but his only other win before the Ascot breakthrough was a Northam maiden in August 2012.

I Have A Dream (5g Encosta De Lago – Free At Last by Senor Pete) is trained by Ivan Haggerty for Distinct Racing’s owner-breeder Geoff Evans.  “We’ve put a lot of work into him,” Haggerty said.  “He ran out of steam last time over 2400 metres so we brought him back in distance and I was confident once he got to the front in the straight.”

Evans bred the winner from his class stayer Free At Last.  She won 10 races up to Group 2 level in the 2004 C B Cox Stakes and was runner-up in a G1 Fruit ‘N’ Veg Stakes, G2 Perth Cup and G2 Craiglee Stakes at Flemington.

Free At Last has a yearling colt by Viscount and Evans bred her back to his own sire Celtus last year.

Celtus (Celtic Swing) won a C B Cox Stakes a year before Free At Last and he has been based at Distinct Racing’s Serpentine base since 2007.
