Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire Hussonet was in the frame when his Australian bred gelding Bowl Brothers won the Macau Guineas on Saturday. The first leg of the Macau Triple Crown carried prizemoney of HK$1 million and a domestic Group 1 rating.
Bowl Brothers (4g Hussonet – They Say by Thirty Six Red) is a half-brother to Champion 2yo Filly Hasna (Snippets) who was a G1 winner of the AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes and AJC Champagne Stakes.
Bowl Brothers was passed-in for $55,000 when offered by Kitchwin Hills (as agent) at the 2007 Inglis Easter yearling sales. Racing as Vetinari, he was trained by David Hayes but only got as far as a Balaklava maiden win before transferring off-shore.
Lindsay Park agent Mark Pilkington returned to buy his younger half-brother by Redoute’s Choice at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions. Offered by Strawberry Hill Farm, the colt realised $925,000.
