The 2011 Inglis Great Southern Sale opened at Oaklands on Tuesday with the first of two weanling sessions. A Henrythenavigator – Let’s Get Famous filly topped the Day 1 leader board at $150,000.
In all, 136 foals sold on Tuesday for turnover of $1.53 million. The average of $11,293 was achieved on a 76% clearance rate.
Henrythenavigator (Kingmambo) was a G1 winner of the English 2000 Guineas, Sussex Stakes, St. James’s Palace Stakes and Irish 2000 Guineas. He shuttled to Coolmore Australia for the first time in 2009 and covered 143 mares at a $38,500 fee.
His filly from the Danehill mare Let’s Get Famous was catalogued by Erinvale Thoroughbreds. She is from an unraced daughter of 1991 Caulfield – Melbourne Cups winner Let’s Elope.
Henrythenavigator and Erinvale also provided a filly from stakes winning Bluebird mare Ladybird Blue that sold to Darrell Ible Bloodstock for $75,000. Fillies by Testa Rossa, Rock Of Gibraltar and Lonhro also topped the $50,000 mark.
The second session of the weanling sale will start at 10.30am on Wednesday. The Great Southern Bloodstock Sale is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
