Hong Kong warrior wins again for All Too Hard

Rejuvenated All Too Hard sprinter Alcari continued his return to winning form this season with a blazing victory in the Guangdong Institute Of Sport Hcp (1000m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.

The 7yo warrior clocked a whirlwind 55.11s to send his prizemoney past HK10 million (AUD1.76 million) for owner Tam Kwok Cheung.  Winless in 2020-21, he has won three sprints down the straight-course this term and has only been out of a place once in his last seven starts.

Alcari returned from Conghua last week and the environment there obviously suits the first-crop son of Vinery sire All Too Hard.  “He’s a character and has come back a much happier horse,” trainer Ricky Yiu said.  “He’s had some leg issues and racing down the straight helps.”

Alcari was a $280,000 buy for Yiu at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  His dam Cariad (Sequalo) was a Listed winner of the Nudgee Hcp and Bright Shadow Quality in Brisbane.

All Too Hard continues to make headway in Hong Kong with multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Wellington leading the charge this season.  Alcari was his third winner there in the last fortnight following My Ecstatic and Bundle Of Charm.

Off-shore and domestic buyers targeted All Too Hard yearlings at the Magic Millions National Sale last week.  He averaged $102,500 for turnover of $615,000 and no other stallion finished above him in both categories on the Gold Coast.

Baramul Stud’s full-brother to Singapore star Hard Too Think finished Top 3 on the leader-board when purchased by Denys Chan of Golden River Investments for $280,000.  “He looks a lot like Wellington and his future also lies in Hong Kong,” Chan said.  “He has a very good page and All Too Hard is going very well up there.”

Chan had purchased two Vinery-consigned fillies at the Gold Coast in January and they are being trained by Bjorn Baker.  The Dundeel – Electric Dreams filly is a half-sister to Adelaide Group 3 winner Broadband and cost $230,000.  His Exceed and Excel filly from Queensland Oaks Gr.1 winner Pure Beauty was a bargain at $200,000.

All Too Hard stands for a $38,500 (inc GST) service fee at Vinery and for bookings or further information, please contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
