Mic Mac is the $2.60 favourite and a much-touted chance in Saturday’s Memsie Stakes at Caulfield, and IASbet.com bookmaker Mark Read agrees – stating that the impressive gelding is virtually assured the winner’s cheque.
“The young star gets a very soft lead from a favourable draw, and he has the acceleration to win handsomely. Most of the other chances will be four to five lengths away from him upon straightening, although I expect El Segundo ($5.00) to again race well,” Read said.
“On the other hand, Whobegotyou ($5.00) gives me the indication that he wants a mile or further now, and I am prepared to make him my greatest liability come race time.”
Sydney’s Saturday feature race is the Group 1 Golden Rose, and Read believes the Sheikh has this race at his mercy with the in-form Denman ($2.60).
“The colt by Lonhro holds a significant form edge over the field, and, from the draw, I expect his near flawless career to remain intact after an ideal run in transit.”
Read has little faith in the second favourite Trusting ($5.50). “Trusting has been the punters elect so far, in from $6.00 to $5.50, however he will be a long way back when they take off in this race, and Rosehill never does back-markers any favours.”
