Victorian based sire Golden Snake finished a winning week in Italy on Sunday when his daughter Quiza Quiza Quiza won the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio (2000m) in Rome
The five-year-old mare settled towards the rear before charging home out wide to pick up Beatrice Amore (Danehill Dancer) and Kapite (Dubawi). It boosted her strike-rate to 10 wins in 22 starts.
Quiza Quiza Quiza (5m Golden Snake – Quiz Chow by Pelder) is a home-bred for Riccardo Cantoni. She also owns placings in the G2 Italian Oaks and G1 Presidente Della Republicca.
“It was great to see Quiza Quiza Quiza salute at Group 1 level,” Golden Snake’s syndicate manager Julie Nairn said. “She is a high class mare and, like so many of the Golden Snakes, is durable with a great will to win.
“It is a shame that we are not breeding more of these wonderful classic and staying bred types in Australia. Trainers are now travelling to Europe to buy them but we have proven stallions like Golden Snake right here in our own backyard!”
Golden Snake (USA) has also sired G1 WA Railway Stakes winner Gilded Venom. He passed the 100th individual winner milestone last Monday when Quiet Venom saluted at Queanbeyan.
A son of Danzig, Golden Snake retired to the English National Stud in 2002 after winning the G1 Prix Jean Prat and G1 Prix Ganay. He shuttled to Lynden Park in Australia and, apart from one season in Ireland, has remained in the southern hemisphere on a full-time basis since 2006.
Golden Snake is a half-brother to English 1000 Guineas winner Sayyedati. His dam Dubian won the Premio Lydia Tesio and was placed in the English Oaks and the Irish Oaks.
