The 2012 Perth Magic Millions received a boost when outstanding filly Karuta Queen streaked to victory in the G3 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday,
A half sister to the flying filly by leading WA sire Blackfriars is being prepared by the Durham Lodge team for the Perth auction.
Karuta Queen’s next assignment will be a straight-six race at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day and her longer-term goal is the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January.
She was a $30,000 purchase for Glenn and Viva Williams from the Turangga Farm draft at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions and has now earned over $1.72 million.
Karuta Queen (Not a Single Doubt) is from stakes winning Final Card mare Card Queen. Durham Lodge purchased Card Queen from Turangga Stud for $55,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Her Show a Heart colt was purchased by Belmont Bloodstock for $230,000 at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions. He has been named Brave Prince.
Her latest yearling is a filly by 1999 Victoria Derby winner Blackfriars who is best known as the sire of Playing God.
The Neville Parnham trained gelding won the G1 Kingston Town Stakes at Ascot last season before travelling east for G1 placings in the Australian Guineas and Australian Cup at Flemington. He was also G1 placed in the Turnbull Stakes at headquarters earlier this month.
Blackfriars (Danehill) has sired 158 individual winners of 480 races at a 54% strike-rate.
