Jet Spur signs off winning season

Jet Spur rubber-stamped his name all over the trophy for Queensland’s Champion 2YO Sire last weekend and he will be out to finish the season with a bang on Saturday.

Jet Spur sired promising winner Biggles last Saturday and the Glenlogan Park resident has three youngsters lining up in the final Brisbane race of the season tomorrow.

Jet Star Girl and Kahui will both take their place from the Pat Duff yard and the top trainer is finding it difficult to separate the pair.  “Jet Star Girl is right up to the mark,” Pat said.  “I think we have now found the key to her and I am sure the 1200m off a little freshen will be right up her alley.  She has a good barrier and gets in well at the weights.  I am sure she will give a good sight.”

“Kahui has spelled terrifically and looks an absolute treat,” Pat added.  “She trialled fantastically and I am confident she is in for a really good campaign.

“Unfortunately I think she is weighted right up there and she has also drawn a pretty awkward marble.  In saying that however, she is very tough and loves a fight.  If she has any luck in running she can definitely figure in the finish.”

The Michael Nolan trained Doug’s Jet is the other representative for Jet Spur and she has just been crying out for a dry track.  “Nothing has really gone right at all this time in,” Michael said.  “We have either been the victim of disgraceful luck, poor rides or wet tracks.

“I was happy with how she attacked the line to finish third last start over an unsuitable distance at Toowoomba (850m) and she has come through that effort well.  It is a tough race but if she finds her best form she can be right there with them.”

Jet Spur’s 2YO prizemoney this season is over the $1 million mark which places him at No.8 on the Australian 2YO sires’ premiership.

He sits second behind Exceed And Excel (22) in the winners’ category on 14, however, his strike rate in the juvenile division is the best in the nation.  Exceed And Excel has had 53 individual starters – Jet Spur just 23.
