Monday’s card at Moe has been decimated by scratchings.  There were 12 starters in the Home Timber & Hardware Maiden (Race 3 at 2.10pm AEDT) but only 7 survived after acceptances.

Kendrick (3g Royal Academy – Discretion by Canny Lad) will be at a short quote but should salute on a heavy track second time out.  He was placed on debut at Kilmore earlier this month when there looked to be plenty of improvement in him.

Kendrick is trained by John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes for a syndicate managed by Lindsay Maxsted.  He is an older half-brother to Roulettes (Flying Spur) who was our Maiden Winner of the Day at Cranbourne for the same connections on November 22.

Kendrick is a brother to Royal Discretion (Royal Academy), a four-time stakes winner of the G3 AJC South Pacific Classic, G3 MRC Jayco Cup, LR STC Darby Munro Hcp and LR Hawkesbury Guineas.

The Hawkes family know the pedigree well enough having prepared their dam Discretion to wins at Randwick (3), Caulfield and Mornington.
