The future of beaten Perth Cup favourite Kincaple is in doubt after scans revealed he had torn suspensory ligaments.
Kincaple (6g Pentire – Kincaple Lass by Kaapstad) pulled up distressed in Western Australia’s premier staying event as the $4.20 public elect. The Kiwi bred galloper had won the LR Kalgoorlie Cup (2300m) and Coolgardie Cup (1600m) at the start of the season.
Part-owner Troy Jackman revealed Kincaple will be given ample time to recover before a decision is made on whether he will return to racing. “It is a fairly good size tear, unfortunately,” Jackman said. “It could take six months to get the horse right.”
Kincaple was a $150,000 graduate of the Rich Hill Stud draft at the 2007 NZB Karaka yearling sale. He had won races at Cranbourne (2) and Seymour for trainer Jim Conlon before heading west in May.
Rich Hill will be offering a Pentire brother to Kincaple at the 2012 Karaka yearling sales.
In another development involving Pentire in Perth, the connections of He’s Remarkable will have their Railway Stakes appeal heard by the WA Racing Tribunal heard on January 24.
He’s Remarkable (Pentire) won and then lost the Group 1 Mile when stewards upheld a highly controversial protest from second placegetter Luckygray.
