Raheen Stud bred filly Kiss a Rose will be set for the G1 Thousand Guineas after producing a paralysing last-to-first burst in the G3 Quezette Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Sebring three year-old had won on debut at Caulfield last summer but was sidelined with a virus during the autumn.  “She will head to the Thousand Guineas but I think she’s really more an autumn filly,” trainer Peter Moody said.  “Whatever she does this spring is a bonus.”

The $600,000 Thousand Guineas will be run at Caulfield on Wednesday, October 16.

Kiss a Rose (3f Sebring – Hurl by Redoute’s Choice) was bred and sold by Raheen for $180,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Agent Cameron Cooke Bloodstock bought her on behalf of prominent owner Les Cowell.

“She was super impressive,” winning jockey Vlad Duric said.  “She settled beautifully, conserved her energy and then produced a great turn of foot.”

Kiss a Rose is the fourth stakes-winner from the first crop of Widden Stud sire Sebring.  She is bred on a 4×3 cross of Danehill and is the first foal of Hurl who was a Brisbane stakes performer for Raheen’s Nolan family.

Raheen sold her younger half-brother by Testa Rossa for $250,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions.  Hurl has a yearling filly by Show a Heart and was bred back to Sebring last December.

Moody also prepared Group 1 sprinter Golden Archer who will serve his first mares at Raheen this season at a $6,600 (inc gst) service fee.
