Hussonet colt Bangalore Bullet confirmed his rating as the leading 3YO in New Zealand’s South Island with a Listed victory in the Dunedin Guineas on Saturday.
The Shane Kennedy-trained colt had claimed the LR Gore Guineas last month and will now be set for the LR Southland Guineas at Ascot Park on February 18. “He only really got going the last bit so the mile looks ideal for him in the Southland Guineas,” Kennedy said. “Physically he’s still got to strengthen up, but he’s a lovely colt with a perfect temperament.”
Bangalore Bullet (3c Hussonet – San Century by Centaine) is a younger brother to Hong Kong galloper Glorious Days who will be given a shot at G1 level in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup at Sha Tin in March.
Bangalore Bullet was sold for $50,000 by Lyndhurst Farm at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale and is raced by Kennedy, Louis Vieceli and Greg Tomlinson.
Hussonet is currently standing at Cornerstone Stud by arrangement with Arrowfield Stud. He has sired 28 Group 1 winners which is more than any other active stallion based in Australia.
