Lincoln Farm has launched Arlington’s stud career on the back of a priceless pedigree and a stakes record on both sides of the Tasman.
Arlington (Red Ransom – Savannah Success by Success Express) retires after winning five races in Australia and New Zealand from 1100m and 1800m. He was also G1 placed at Randwick and G2 placed at Tauranga.
“There’s plenty to get excited about with Arlington,” Lincoln Farm’s Nick Posa said. “He competed soundly in black-type company and the success on both sides of his pedigree speaks for itself.”
Red Ransom sons at stud in Australia include Charge Forward, Domesday and Red Dazzler while NZ based Ekraar sired Shez Sinsational to win the G1 NZ Spring Classic at Hastings last Saturday.
Arlington is among the next wave of Red Ransom stallions following All American, Onemorenomore and Duporth.
A magnificent individual, Arlington was a seven-figure buy for Graeme Rogerson as a yearling and he was stakes placed as a two year-old in the LR Canonbury Stakes and LR Fernhill Hcp at Randwick.
Resuming as a three year-old, Arlington motored home to win first-up at Canterbury over 1100m in preparation for the autumn classics that culminated with a G1 placing to Weekend Hussler in Randwick Guineas (1600m). He was far from disgraced when beaten a length and change by the Australian Horse of the Year after striking interference in the straight.
At the Melbourne spring carnival later that year, Arlington finished fifth in the G1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) before returning home where he was a class above his rivals in the Thakral Holdings Hcp (1800m) at Randwick.
Arlington won again at Randwick over 1800m in the Hula Chief Hcp, however, connections decided a change of tack could coax the best out of the stallion. “I like Arlington a lot and can see him reaching weight-for-age company,” Rogerson said. “I thought he would be a stayer but now I will keep him for races up to a mile.”
Sent to Rogerson’s home base in New Zealand, Arlington responded with a running double at Tauranga over 1400m and the Douro Cup at Trentham over 1600m. He was also G2 placed in the Japan NZ Trophy and G3 Tauranga Stakes at 1600m.
Apart from the Red Ransom sireline, Arlington’s pedigree is complemented his dam Savannah Success who was a G1 winner of the Storm Queen Stakes at Rosehill and New Zealand Oaks at Trentham.
Before Arlington, she foaled G1 Cox Plate winner Savabeel and he is now a Group 1 sire of Brambles, Sangster and Scarlett Lady.
Arlington will stand for an introductory fee of $5,500 (inc gst) at Lincoln Farm. Broodmare owner can contact Nick Posa on 0417 903 578.
