Adelaide trainer Will Clarken has a great strike-rate with Swettenham Stud sires and he prepped another winner when He’s No Slouch scored on debut in the XXXX Gold Plate (1100m) on Sunday.
He’s No Slouch (3g Soldier’s Tale – Alpine Morn by Tirol) follows Dash For Cash filly La Poupee who went within a nose of completing a hat-trick for Clarken at Morphettville last month.
“He’s tough and an easy horse to train,” Clarken said this week. “He did the job first-up and I’ve tipped him out for a couple of weeks. He can come back and win a restricted race in town. Then we will take it from there.”
He followed Perth based Soldier’s Tale filly First Game who won her maiden at Northam last week. She is nominated for the Tony Oreb Hcp (1200m) at Belmont this Saturday.
He’s No Slouch should keep improving over longer trips next time in. He’s from a half-sister to the dam of She’s Archie who won a G1 South Australian Oaks and was runner-up to Makybe Diva in the first of her Melbourne Cups.
He’s No Slouch was the third winner from only 7 starters this season by Soldier’s Tale. The Group 1 winning son of Stravinsky stands at Swettenham for a $5,000 (inc gst) service fee.
