Lindsay Park filly wins Tasmanian Oaks

The 2011-12 Australian sires’ premiership is developing into a two-horse duel between reigning champion Redoute’s Choice and young gun Fastnet Rock.

Fastnet Rock’s winning run continued on Wednesday night when his Lindsay Park filly Rock Robster scored a stylish victory in the LR Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) at Launceston.

Rock Robster (3f Fastnet Rock – Chinese Whispers by Woodman) is trained at Euroa by David Hayes and stable foreman Gary Fennessy said she had always shown ability.  “We always thought her caper was staying,” Fennessy said.  “We’ve been patient and she will really start to pay her way now.”

Bred and sold by Patinack Farm, Rock Robster was purchased for $100,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She is the 26th individual stakes winner for red hot Coolmore Stud based sire Fastnet Rock.

Fastnet Rock ($6.66 million) currently holds a sizeable lead over Redoute’s Choice ($5.44 million).  But the Arrowfield champion will reduce that margin if his fillies No Looking Back (Gai Waterhouse) and Mama’s Choice (David Hayes) figure in the finish of the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield this Saturday.
