Local mare loves Randwick mile

Secret Admirer loves the famous Randwick mile and she stayed unbeaten over that course and distance with a barnstorming finish to win the G1 Epsom Hcp on Saturday.

Secret Admirer (4m Dubawi – Secret Illusion by Secret Savings) is trained locally by Grahame Begg and carries the familiar brown and white checked colours of Milburn Creek owner John Muir.  “She’s outstanding, we’re absolutely rapt,” Begg said.  “It was her Grand Final in Sydney and now we’re off to Melbourne.”

The daughter of former Darley shuttler Dubawi was originally offered for sale by Rothwell Park at the 2008 Inglis weanling sale and was knocked down for $38,000.

She was re-offered by Milburn Creek at the 2009 Inglis Classic yearling sale but Muir took her home to his Hawkesbury Valley property when bidding fell short of a $40,000 reserve.

Secret Admirer won the G1 Flight Stakes at Randwick twelve months ago and has now earned over $600,000.  Her dam Secret Illusion is a half-sister to G1 AJC Metropolitan winner Donegal Mist.
