Inglis graduate Lords Ransom continued his stellar form this summer with a convincing victory over stablemate Ma Chienne in the G2 Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year’s Day.
Lords Ransom (6g Jeune – Palace Alice by Palace Music) was sold for $15,000 at the 2005 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale. His earnings shot past $700,000 when he won another Perth Cup for Bob Peters. Perth’s leading local breeder had already won the race with Field Officer in 1993 and Crown Prosecutor in 2005.
The Adam Durrant trained stayer is from the 10 times winning Palace Music mare Palace Alice and was coming off a last start win in the G2 C B Cox Stakes (2100m).
Palace Alice herself was sold through the Oaklands ring in 2006 where she was knocked down for $26,000. She has since produced a full-sister to Lords Ransom and colts by Bel Esprit and Danehill Express.
The Perth Cup continues a stellar season for the Melbourne Premier Sale. Another Oaklands Junction graduate is the Testa Rossa mare Ortensia who took out the G2 Winterbottom Stakes last month.
The 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale is scheduled for March 1-4 and 724 lot catalogue is now online at www.inglis.com.au.
