Power of Ed – Bred To Win – Saturday, 2 January 2010

Power of Ed was our Bred To Win tip at the Doomben meeting that was washed out last Monday.

The postponement didn’t unduly hurt his Magic Millions 2yo Classic preparation because trainer Helen Page has him ready to fire in the MM 2yo Prelude at the Gold Coast (Race 4 at 2.20pm AEST) on Saturday.

Power of Ed (2c Jet Spur – Precious Epic by Iglesia) is a son of Glenlogan Park stallion Jet Spur (Flying Spur) who has already sired four winners from his first crop including Power of Ed who won at the Gold Coast on December 19.

Jet Spur was a G2 winner of the Dodo Sprint at Caulfield and the G3 L’Oreal Paris Plate at Flemington.  His Gold Coast winner was a $55,000 buy at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale from the Epic Farm draft.

His dam Precious Epic only won a Ballina maiden in 16 starts.  She is a half-sister to Perth stakes performer Truckin Tobie (Greenlander) and the dam of Brisbane flyer Power of George (Falvelon).
