Trade Fairs Pleasure Perth

Absolute Pleasure became the first Australian winner for Evergreen Lodge shuttler Trade Fair in the BMW Lifestyle Plate (1100m) at Ascot on New Year’s Day.

Absolute Pleasure (2f Trade Fair – Magic Puff by Octagonal) settled outside the leader Totteridge Green before lifting a gear in the straight to score by over a length.  “She has always shown above average ability,” trainer Trevor Andrews claimed as Jason Whiting brought the debutant back to scale.  “She certainly has a lot of class.”

Trade Fair (GB) sired 15 individual winners in his first European season which finished a few hours before Absolute Pleasure opened the batting in Australia.  He stands at Tweenhills Farm in Gloucestershire and shuttles to Evergreen at Myalup in south-west WA.

The best of his initial northern crop could well turn out to be the Highclere Stud bred colt Fair Trade who is still a maiden.  Trainer David Elsworth gave him just the one outing at two when beaten a head over a mile at Newmarket in October.

Fair Trade (3c Trade Fair – Ballet by Sharrood) is a half-brother to Newmarket Listed winner Island Sound (Turtle Island) and minor winners by Shalford, Shirley Heights and Daylami.  He was an 80,000gns buy at the 2008 Tattersalls October yearling sale and holds an entry to the 2010 English Derby.

Trade Fair carries a world class pedigree and represents the Mr Prospector sireline through Gone West and Zafonic.  His dam is a Danehill mare related to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Cairn Rouge.

Trade Fair was a Juddmonte homebred and competed at the highest level throughout his career before retiring to stud.  Regarded as strictly a top of the ground performer, he won twice at Group 3 and Listed levels and was also Group 1 placed in the time honoured Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Absolute Pleasure was a $70,000 purchase at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions and she is raced in partnership by Touchstone Farm’s managing director Glenn Martin.  The winner is out of an unraced half-sister Group 1 filly Gallant Tess.

Evergreen owner Dr John Yovich is unable to capitalise Trade Fair’s great start with another crop of yearlings at the upcoming Perth Magic Millions because the horse was cooped up at Eastern Creek in 2007.

But Yovich does have a half-brother to Absolute Pleasure by Evergreen associate Zedrich catalogued as Lot 491 on Sunday, January 31.
