Miss wins tough Testa Rossa

Miss Marx returned to form with a last-start victory in the LR Testa Rossa Stakes at Caulfield and connections will keep her in Melbourne for more feature races over the spring carnival.

Trained by David Vandyke at Warwick Farm, the Anabaa mare has several options and already holds a nomination for the G1 Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington on Saturday, November 10.

Miss Marx (5m Anabaa – Daijobo by Bite The Bullet) broke through at black-type level after a long losing streak dating back to May 2011.  She had completed a hat-trick at Canterbury (2) and Rosehill but didn’t progress for her previous connections.

Vandyke bought her for $110,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale in June for a syndicate headed by Edinburgh Park owner Ian Smith.  “It was a tough win in the Testa Rossa,” Vandyke said.  “She was deep most of the way and I couldn’t believe it when she got there.

“Miss Marx has only had two starts for us.  First-up we were second to More Joyous in the Sheraco Stakes and now we’ve come to Melbourne and won a black-type race.”

Miss Marx was originally purchased for $150,000 from the Baerami Thoroughbreds draft at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She was bred by John Muir of Milburn Creek Stud and is from LR Nivison Hcp winner Daijobo.
